Anyone Can Have Long Hair

The next time you see a woman with long, shiny, swinging hair, don't be fooled - it could be that she has had hair extensions.
And the good news is that any woman can have long hair because extensions can be attached to one's crowning glory to make it even more so.
Therefore, this Mother's Day could well produce a procession of newly long-haired women coming from Pure Hair Wollongong in Wollongong Central.
Salon owner Carmela Ferraro said extensions added body to thinner hair as well as extra length and colour if the client wanted.
``The human hair comes from Europe and because it is natural can be shampooed, cut, coloured, blow-dried and otherwise treated as one's own hair," she said.
``So if someone doesn't want extra length, the extensions can be cut and the client would then benefit from hair that looks and actually is thicker and healthier."
Ms Ferraro said that once extensions were in place, they were undetectable and lasted for an average of three months, when natural hair growth meant they should be replaced.
``They can be re-used by the client so it's not just a one-off service," she said.
Pure Hair Wollongong will be open on Mother's Day, one of the few in the region that will be, and Ms Ferraro said it was not unusual for guests of honour to call in for a shampoo and blow dry on their way to a family lunch.
The salon also offers gift vouchers for whatever hair service is required.
